The owner of 1oak, Tischlermeister Master Carpenter Wolf Ehmanns, was born and raised in Germany. He started his woodworking career in 1993 and received the Germany equivalent of Red Seal Journeyman tickets in both Carpentry and Joinery (cabinetry & furniture building).
He then continued his woodworking education to achieve the German Masters degree in joinery, allowing him to provide high quality design and production in all woodworking projects.
Wolf owned and operated a successful business in Germany for many years. He moved to Canada in 2007, and started working in the commercial cabinetry industry.
During this time he discovered the need for a shop like 1oak – where custom cabinetry could be formed perfectly with high-quality design and workmanship.
In 2011, Wolf married the woman of his dreams and moved his new family to Nanoose Bay, BC, and started the operation of 1oak.
His extensive training allows him to work with his clients and assess their vision, needs and budget. He is then able to implement the drafting, design, and creation of their custom cabinetry and furniture.
The Tagesgeschaeft Bread and Butter at 1oak is in kitchens, bathrooms and unique furniture, but includes multi-trade renovation and interior projects as well.
